NAGIDOS, CILICIA AR STATER
Casabonne 7, SNG BN 5, Very Fine, light porosity, reverse test cut, 16.5mm, 10.16 grams, Struck Circa. 400 - 380 B.C.E.

Reverse: Head of Aphrodite to right, hair bound in sphendon, ΝΑΓΙΔΙΚΟΝ around
An iconic Greek type featuring both portraits of both Dionysos and Aphrodite. Nicely detailed portraits and quite nice in hand. Surfaces not perfect, but of the half dozen of so of this die type to have sold within the last 25 years, we could not find any with good surfaces. Perhaps has something to do with the find location of these coins.
Ex: Gerhard Hirsch Nachfolger, Auction 218, November 28, 2001, Lot #396.
