Struck on a large flan. It is invariably difficult to detect any writing or images of on the lead coins of Alexander Jannaeus. Due to the density of the metal, they did not take to the strike of the dies. We have examined hundreds of these and found that the great majority only have trace amounts of an image or writing. This particular coin is one of the better ones with a CLEAR anchor in circle as is found on the regular Widow's Mites.
