VESPASIAN AR DENARIUS
RIC 1457, RSC 277, RPC 853, Good Very Fine, 17.9mm, 3.17 grams, Struck Circa. 74 C.E. Ephesos Mint
Obverse: IMP CAESAR VESPAS AVG COS V TR P P P around laureate head of Vespasian to right
Reverse: Victory advancing to right, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond over her left shoulder in her left, star in lower right field, PACI AVGVSTAE around
An appealing coin, light porosity, a nice strike with a very attractive old irridescent patina! A provincial mint issue not listed by Hendin but likely referring to the Roman victory over Judaea!
