BAR KOCHBA AR SELA / TETRADRACHM
Mildenberg 77, Hendin 6439, NGC Encapsulated, AU, (photo of label attached) approx. 26.2mm, 14.48 grams, Undated, struck Circa. 134/135 C.E.
Obverse: Temple Facade, holy of holies with ark staves within protruding, surrounded by inscription "SHIMON" in paleo hebrew.
Reverse: Arba Minim (Palm branch, willow, myrtle and etrog (one each as per opinion of Rabbi Akiba), surrounded by inscription "TO THE FREEDOM OF JERUSALEM"
An attractive almost uncirculated Sela with a strong, WELL DEFINED Temple! Struck on excellent metal and lightly toned. Indentation on the left side of the reverse is actually part of the wing of the Antiochian Roman Tetradrachm over which this coin was struck. A very reasonably priced and nice example. Nicer and more complete than the Mildenberg plate coin for this die set.
