YEHUD AR HALF GERAH (1/2 OBOL) UNDER PERSIAN RULE
Hendin 6058, GBC 5 - 1059, About Very Fine / Very Fine+, 7mm, .27 gram, Struck Circa. 4th Century B.C.E., Under Achaemenid Persian Rule
Obverse: Crowned and bearded head of the Persian King to right
Reverse: Falcon upward, head to right, ['YHD' (in Paleo-Hebrew) in outer right field]
Fantastic falcon detail! This particular reverse die was engraved with a large falcon leaving little or no room for letters to be visible. Indeed, there are virtually no known examples of this die pair with visible inscriptions This coin can also be seen here on Menorah coin project. It is die O5, the third coin from the left, on the first line.
