CONTINENTAL CURRENCY, EIGHT DOLLARS
Friedberg CC - 61, Choice Fine 15 Net, repaired, Dated February 26th, 1777
Known as the "Baltimore issue", this note noticeably does not have Philadelphia printed on reverse. The reason was that during Dec. 1776 - Feb. 1777 when the Continental Congress met to pass the resolution for this currency, Philadelphia was occupied by British forces. The Congress was able to reconvene in Philadelphia on March 4, so that at least some of these bills were probably printed in Philadelphia as well.
