COLONIAL CURRENCY, CONNECTICUT, 1 SHILLING & 3 PENCE

Friedberg CT - 195, Good to Very Good, strong ink, Dated June 7, 1776

Serial number 9912 (or 9012), Signer: Elisha Williams

Printed less than a month before the Declaration of Independence!

These notes were frequently very worn down and torn. They were often resewn or backed. This particular note was backed with a paper used by the owner for making calculations. Some shows through the front and there is attractive fountain handwriting on the reverse. An interesting piece of antique Americana.
