Alexander I was the first Macedonian King to strike is own coinage. At this early time the coins were still anepigraphic. He was a vassal king under Xerxes of Persia, though he tried to curry favor with fellow Greek states by tipping them off to Persian war plans.
VERY RARE early Macedonian Tetradrachm, struck on a broad flan with a CHOICE obverse. A really attractive and hard to acquire early archaic coin of Macedon!
