SHIMON BAR KOKHBA AE SMALL DENOMINATION
Mildenberg 158, Extremely Fine, 17.6mm, 3.76 grams, attributed to year three - 134/135 C.E.
Obverse: Vine leaf on tendril, Year Two of the Freedom of Jerusalem in Paleo-Hebrew around
Reverse: Seven branched palm tree with two bunches of dates, Shimon in Paleo-Hebrew across fields
VERY SHARP and struck on a very small flan, EVEN for the small denomination. We cannot recall handling a Bar Kochba AE struck on such a small flan, actually the size of a Roman quadrans! An interesting piece.
