Reverse: Inverted anchor, monogram PO near bottom, inscription ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ ΝΙΚΑΤΟΡΟΣ to sides
The Hasmonean dynasty was intertwined with the politics of the Seleucid Empire, whose coins they also sometimes minted. This Seleucid anchor design is an obvious prototype for some of the coins of the Hasmoneans, particulary the famous "Anchor and Star" Widow's Mite.
