AR SHEKEL, JEWISH WAR FIRST REVOLT AGAINST ROME,  YEAR ONE - 66/67 C.E.

Hendin 1354v, Good EF, 23.9mm, 13.40 grams.

A very impressive shekel on quality solid metal, broad flan, and perfect aside for slight softness on the obverse right.  This coin is one of only 2 known for this die combination and ONE OF ONLY TWO coins known to exist with this reverse die!

The reverse die R17 is very interesting in that it seems stylistically different from most dies (perhaps a different engraver) with what appears to be crowded writing on a much smaller footprint actually fully placed in the reverse with much room to spare. It is EXCEPTIONALLY WELL STRUCK with tips on the high points of the pomegranate!
